(00:00):
Hey everybody, it's Sally Hendrick with Shout Your Cause. I've been away for a little bit, but I went out of town to Minnesota to add another state to my list and to enjoy Minneapolis. While I was there, I got to try the Juicy Lucy at Matt's Barring Grill. It's a famous burger with cheese on the inside of the meat cooked inside. It will pop and be very, very hot, so you have to be careful taking a bite. Not too far. From there, I saw the George Floyd Memorial. There's all kinds of things. There's paintings on the street. There are these fists that are made out of metal that are the resist statues all around the edges of it. It's right there in front of store called Unity Foods. I took some video of that and put it on my social media and immediately got some hate for it, but I also got some love.
(01:04):
Today I've just put out my newsletter on Substack. It's under shout your cause.com if you want to go and subscribe to it. I send out a news bullet point and breaking bullet point news, breaking news summary so that you can quickly peruse through it. I also do a little commentary letter at the beginning of it, and today I wanted to mention that Donald Trump is pushing forth this $5,000 credit for women who want to have a baby. It sounds very similar to Russia's new policy for young female students who will receive the equivalent of $1,200 for having a baby. They even encourage women to conceive at work during breaks, and now Donald Trump is touting a similar policy, though he doesn't say he's targeting teenagers per se. Regardless, the sentiment of this policy is the same. This just end today. El Salvador admits that it has no evidence that Kmar Abrego Garcia is a criminal and that it's only holding him at the request of the United States with a $15 million payout.
(02:24):
Now that $15 million goes towards more immigrants, not just Kilmore Abrego Garcia, but he's part of that payment. Why does Trump feel he has to save face on this? If you know the Italian phrase, faja Brava, it's something that was brought up a lot whenever Amanda Knox was obliterated in the press and by the police in Italy. She was put in jail for four years. Her prosecutor, Menini, who was a horrible man, who fabricated a ridiculous story about her without any evidence, but he would not back down when confronted with the truth. That is called faja Brava, which means brave face, and it's the same as saving face, which is what the Trump administration seems to be trying to do with this Garcia. Man, let's segue into something else for a second. I don't know if you guys know it, but I'm going to be spending three months in Spain this fall and I'm going to be gathering up all the best information about what to do, where to go, where to stay, what to eat, and everything about how to get around the country.
(03:44):
I've signed up to be a trove trip ambassador so that I can host a trip for you and I would love to get your feedback. I've got a survey on my website if you will. Just head over to shout your cause.com. Head over to the travel section. There is a segment there where you can click and take the survey, sign up on my wait list to find out about my trip to Spain that I'm going to host for you guys in 2026. All right, so back to the news a little bit that we do have some Wall Street woes going on. The Dow has had the worst April since 1932, which is insane. The Dow is down sharply and investor fears of inflation, interest rate hikes and global instability. I've got a Substack with the link to a Wall Street Journal article that is free to read online if you want to find that.
(04:45):
Trump's approval hits a new low. He's down to 42%. I don't know if I really care about those types of polls, but I reported it. Anyway. Science is being held hostage. There is an advanced cancer research doctor named Petrova who has been developing AI tools for microscope that could revolutionize aging in cancer studies. She was in the middle of her research when she's now facing deportation and imprisonment in Russia, potentially due to her anti-war protests. I've got several more stories on my substack. If you want to head over there to get the full thing, you can peruse through it very quickly. I use emojis and bullet points and just short quick explanations so that you can get the meat of the story without having to read the entire article and you're not just getting a headline and it's not a biased headline. It's something that hopefully will at least entice you to read it, but read the bullet points below and you will your news for the day and you can move on. Remember to go sign up online for my trove trip link and do the survey. If you want to go to Spain in 2026, it's going to be fabulous. I do speak quite a bit of Spanish and I study every single day, so join me. And that was the end of today's news with Shout Your Cause with Sally Hendrick, and I'll see you soon. Please rate this podcast, follow, subscribe, whatever, and I'll see you soon.
